Mumbai: A Ghana national was today arrested from Mumbai international airport for allegedly trying to smuggle in one kg of cocaine drugs in the form of capsules after swallowing them, a customs official said.
Acting on a tip off, the accused identified Mamudu Mubarak, was intercepted at Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport yesterday.
He arrived here on a flight EK-504 on from Brazil via Dubai.
After detaining the accused, an X-ray scan was carried out on him, in which it was found that he swallowed 76 capsules containing 1 kg of cocaine valued at Rs 5 crore.
He was subsequently arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act.
