Mumbai, Nov 16: A team of senior CBI officials today met Maharashtra Chief Secretary J P Dange here, seeking information in connection with the Adarsh Housing Society scam.
The three-member team, led by CBI Regional Joint Director Rishi Raj Singh, met Dange at Mantralaya (state secretariat) this afternoon.
"The inquiry is on," Rishi Raj Singh told reporters, adding "it is not appropriate for me to speak in detail on the issue now."
The team will also probe role of serving and retired state government officials in the scam, CBI sources said.
"We have handed over necessary papers to the CBI team. The state government is also of the opinion that the guilty be punished," Dange said.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said CBI should not only act against defence officials in the Adarsh scam but also against civil servants involved in the case.
"I feel that even after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, action was not taken against the officials.
"We met the Chief Secretary to seek certain documents from various departments of the state government like MMRDA, Urban Development, BEST, Revenue and Environment," Rishi Raj said.
The Chief Secretary has assured full cooperation and has said the documents would be submitted to us at the earliest, he said. PTI
