Jaipur: The pro-BJP Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Saturday defeated the Congress student wing National Students Union of India by winning the posts of president, vice president and joint secretary in the Rajasthan University Students Union elections.
ABVP candidate Kanaram Jat won the president post securing 3575 votes while NSUI's Shefali Meena got 1249 votes.
ABVP's Shweta Yadav won the vice president post securing 2513 votes, while ABVP's Manish Meena won the treasurer's post.
NSUI's Abhimanyu Poonia won the general secretary post securing 1637 votes
The elected office-bearers were sworn in by RU vice-chancellor while NPP activist Naresh Meena and 66 others were detained by police for trying to disturb the elections.
