Chennai: Nine coaches of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity express derailed today morning between Anekal-Hosur, about 45 kms away from Bangalore.
The mishap occurred around 7.40 am.
Railway officials said that many passangers are feared injured after the train derailed near Hosur.
No casualty has been reported so far.
The incident occurred near Anekal near Mulagondapalli and Chandrapuram.
While ambulances from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been rushed to the spot, officials are co-ordinating rescue operations, they said.
Railway authorities have rushed rescue teams to the spot and mounted a massive operation.
Several passengers have been trapped in the coaches mangled due to the impact of derailment and being pulled out.
The injured were being rushed to nearby hospitals.
