Maharajganj: Eight persons, suspected to be Pakistani nationals, were detained by security forces when they allegedly tried to cross the Indo-Nepal border at Sonauli in Mahrajganj district.
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel detained them yesterday when they failed to produce valid documents to prove their identity, SSB sources said today.
Those detained include two women and four children.
During interrogation, they told SSB personnel that they belonged to Jammu and Kashmir and were coming from Kathmandu.
The SSB, which guards the 1,751-km long Indo-Nepal border, and local police are verifying their claims.
