Raipur: Seven policemen were killed and ten others were injured in an encounter with Maoists in Sukma district of Chattisgarh today. The number of causalities on Maoists side is not yet known.
The encounter took place in the area South of Kankerlanka and Chintagufa village of Sukma. According to early reports, it was an operation by the Special Task Force (STF) of Chattisgarh police and not a chance encounter.
The operation is over and the rescue operations are underway.
Earlier in December last year, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) contingent was attacked by the Naxals and 14 CRPF personal were killed in the ambush.
