Kopargaon (Maharashtra), Apr 27: Central Railway's zonal railway users consultative committee has demanded 50 per cent discount on train fares for Shirdi Saibaba devotees travelling by second and sleeper classes.
“Since pilgrims visiting Sathya Saibaba of Prashanti Nilayam get 50 per cent concession for attending certain ceremonies held at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, we also demand the same for Shirdi devotees,” an office-bearer of the zonal committee said.
The Committee has written to Railway Ministry demanding the concession for Shirdi devotees. According to the panel, concession should be given to pilgrims visiting Shirdi on Ramnavami, Guru Purnima, Dusshera, Diwali, Christmas and New Year.
A senior Railway Ministry official, however, said no decision has been taken on the concession issue yet.
