Chandigarh, Apr 26: As much as 47.83 lakh tonnes of wheat has so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana during the current procurement season.
A spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said out of it, 47.80 lakh tonnes of wheat has been procured by Government agencies at the minimum support price and 2,370 tonnes of wheat has been purchased by the private millers and traders.
He said HAFED had procured over 18 lakh tonnes of wheat, Food and Supplies Department (11.95 lakh tonnes), Food Corporation of India (6.42 lakh tonnes), Haryana Agro Industries Corporation (4.61 lakh tonnes), Haryana Warehousing Corporation (4.44 lakh tonnes) and CONFED had purchased 2.36 lakh tonnes of wheat.
Karnal was leading in wheat arrival where over 5.79 lakh tonnes of wheat had so far arrived in the mandis, followed by district Sirsa where over 5.74 lakh tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis, the spokesperson added.
Haryana has set a target to procure 87.30 lakh tonne of crop this season.
