Ahmedabad: The tent city erected for the ‘Rannotsav 2013' desert festival which commences from today in the Kutch, has already received 45 per cent bookings, official said.
“This year, the Rannotsav has evoked a warm response from Indian as well as foreign tourists. In the first package, the tent city has already received 45 per cent bookings of its tents so far,” Gujarat tourism minister Saurabh Patel said in a statement issued here yesterday.
A tent city has been erected by setting up 350 air-conditioned tents, the statement said, adding that a camel safari has also been organised.
The two-months long ‘Rannotsav 2013' (December 17, 2013-February 15, 2014) has been organised on a public-private partnership model by the Gujarat Tourism Department.
The first ever online photographic competition showcasing ‘Desert of Kutch and Cultural heritage' has also been organised to attract more tourists, the statement said.
The statement claimed in six years, tourist turnout has increased by 110 per cent.
In 2007-08, Rannotsav had attracted 7,71,000 tourists which rose to 16,19,000 tourists in 2012-13, the minister said.
