Ahmedabad,: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has received more than 43,000 applications for 300 posts of assistant junior clerks, indicating widespread unemployment in urban metros.
This post requires only a second-class graduate and pays much less but surprisingly, applicants here includepost-graduates, many having completed professional courses like ME, Master's in Business Administration (MBA), Master's in Commerce (M Com), Master's in Science (MSc), Master's in Computer Application (MCA) and Master's in Social Welfare (MSW).
Around 14,000 applicants are post-graduates, said a corporation official.
The reason behind this is increasing unemployment, and job insecurity in their respective sectors.
People find government jobs more secure and a life long option to earn their livelihood though the payscales are lower
