40 Nigerians arrested in Goa on drug charges in last 3 years

Panaji:  The Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa Police has arrested 40 Nigerians on charge of selling narcotics in the last three years, SP Karthik Kashyap said on Sunday. He said, there was no drug


Meanwhile, in Fort Aguada Central Jail, the Nigerians who had gone on hunger strike, have now started taking food, said Irene Vitoria Sequeira, jail superintendent.


The Nigerians had complained about the quality of food, but the jail superintendent, in several meetings with them, said food was being given in accordance with jail manual.

The food, she said, included mutton, eggs, bread, chapatis, jam, etc.

The Nigerians demanded that the Goa Human Rights Commission take down their statements, and their statement was recorded by GHRC members.

She said, some of the Nigerians were very polite but others were very arrogant, who wanted separate rooms and phones with STD facilities.
