Ara: 3 people have died in a suicide bomb attack inside the premises of Ara civil court in Bihar.
Those who died included a police constable, a woman and and an undertrial prisoner.
According to reports available, the suicide bomber was an old aged woman who died on the spot due to the explosion. She was carrying the bomb in her purse.
Additional Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey told media here that the bomb that exploded was carried by a woman, one of the victims.
"Police have recovered a mobile phone near the mutilated body of the woman," Pandey said.
According to an official at the chief minister's office, the union home ministry has sought a report about the incident from the state government.
7 others have been injured in this incident. The injured were rushed to the local civil hospital for treatment.
Taking advantage of the chaos after the blast, two prisoners have reportedly escaped from the court premises. They had arrived in the court for appearance in their ongoing cases.
According to R K Singh, local MP and former union home secretary, the attacks were aimed at getting some criminals freed and two of them have even managed to escape.
According to Singh, the names of the two criminals who escaped are- Avdhesh and Lalu.
Lalu had escaped from jail in 2009 as well.
Security in the court premises was beefed up following the blast.
