Chandigarh: Over 25 lakh bank accounts have been opened so far under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY) scheme in Punjab.
There were 23,412 camps were organised across the state and 25,36,437 accounts have already been opened ever since the scheme was launched, an official spokesman said here on Thursday.
"Punjab is on the brink of achieving a distinction of 100 per cent coverage of families of state with a bank account under Yojna," he said.
By December 10 this month, all districts including Ludhiana would be fully covered under the scheme, he said.
The scheme was launched in Punjab on August 28 this year.
