Bengaluru:The Indian Diaspora in Oman has started a five-day homa at Muscat from 9th of November for the wellbeing of the 72-year-old ruler of Oman who is reportedly suffering from colon cancer and has been receiving treatment for the past few months.
And the homa is being performed by a team of astrologers led by Bengaluru based astrologer-cum-vastu expert Chandrashekar Swami.
“We are in Muscat and a special camp site has been created at Barkha town, 41 kilometers from Muscat airport, to perform the five-day homa. A large number of people, especially Indians settled here, are coming to take part in the homa being conducted by 22 Vedic Brahmins. The ailing Sultan believes that the homa will do him good. Some of the royal family members are also taking part in the ritual,“Swami told a newspaper.
The astrologers are performing Maha Dhanvanthari Yaaga, Poorna Navagraha Shanthi homa, Maha Mruthyunjaya Yaaga and Maha Vishnu Yaaga for the well-being of the ailing sultan.
Chandrashekar Swami came to limelight first when superstar Amitabh Bachhan's brother Ajitabh Bachchan walked into his Bengaluru house few years back to get the horoscopes of Aishwaraya Rai and Abhishek Bachhan matched before their wedding. His services were even sought to make the new World Trade Center building in New York Vastu compliant.
The Vedic Brahmins in the group hail from Poorna Pragna Vidya Peetha in Mangaluru and neighbouring Kerala.
The Swami has even performed several homas at the Bangalore Palace. The king of Spain too had visited him in Bengaluru and he is the spiritual advisor to the government of Nepal.
If Swami is to be believed then his team is expected to get Rs 30 lakh as a honorarium for per forming this homa. The royal family is also taking care of their travel and stay arrangements.
Sultan Qaboos has been undergoing medical treatment in Germany since July 2014, but the royal court has never provided details of his treatment or his condition.
“The sultan is in good health and continuing to follow the medical treatment he has been prescribed and which with the help of God will produce the required results,“ a statement issued by the royal court said on October 2.
