New Delhi: Government will hire over 11,800 school teachers in Delhi by March next year to fill vacancies, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour, Minister of State for Home Affiars Kiren Rijiju said online application for 2,375 PGT teachers will be invited in October and hiring completed by December.
Similarly, applications for 9,439 TGT teachers will be invited in January 2015 and the process completed by March 2015, he said.
"As on July 16, 2014, in the schools under the Directorate of Education, 2,375 posts of PGTs out of sanctioned strength of 10,856, 9,439 posts of TGTs (language) out of sanctioned strength of 29,448 and 7733 posts of TGTs (Miscellaneous) out of sanctioned strength of 15,215, are vacant," he said.
The requisitions for filling up these vacant posts under the Direct Recruitment Quota have been sent to the Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board (DSSSB).
He said there as many as 19,500 contract or temporary teachers employed in Delhi government schools.
"In Delhi Municipal Corporation (schools), 1290 posts of primary teachers, 283 posts of nursery teachers and 978 posts of special educators are vacant," he said, adding these vacancies are being filed up on contractual basis.
In New Delhi Municipal Council, posts of 46 PGTs/ lecturers, 7 TGTs, 32 other teachers and 73 assistant teachers are vacant, he said, adding action for filling up these vacant posts on guest faculty basis is being taken.
In the schools run by the Delhi Cantonment Board, 32 posts of Assistant Teachers and 3 posts of TGTs are vacant, he said.
