Reacting on Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's prasing remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also should accept the truth that his father spoke in the Parliament. The chief minister further said what Mulayam Singh Yadav said in the Lok Sabha is true.
"What Mulayam Singh Yadav ji said in the Lok Sabha is true and truth always wins, I am confident that his son will also accept this," Yogi Adityanath said.
In a surprising statement on Wednesday, Mulayam Singh Yadav in the Lok Sabha said that he wished to see Prime Minister Modi back in power after the general elections this year.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, sitting next to Mulayam in the Lok Sabha, looked visibly surprised.
The 79-year-old Uttar Pradesh leader's comments came at a time when his son and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has been seen supporting opposition leaders in their efforts to forge an anti-BJP alliance to oust Prime Minister Modi-led government from the centre.
"I congratulate the Prime Minister because he has tried to take everybody along. I want to say that all members must win and come again and Narendra Modi should become the Prime Minister again," he said in the Lok Sabha.
Acknowledging Mr Yadav's compliment with folded hands, Prime Minister Modi thanked him twice for his remark.
