Two months after landing here as the heaviest woman in the world with 500 kg weight, Egyptian national Eman Ahmed has now lost a whopping 262 kg and is now ready to go back home, her doctors claimed last week.
However, Ahmed's sister Saimma Selim has alleged that her sister has not recovered at all and that Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, who has been treating Eman, was passing on incorrect information on her health.
"Dr Muffazal Lakdawala is a liar and is not giving right/factual updates about Eman's recovery. Eman has not recovered one bit," Saimma said in a Facebook post.
Selim contradicted the doctor’s claim, saying, “Nobody in the world can lose 300kg in two months. It is not magic. Where is the before and after proof?"
When Dr Lakdawala was asked about the allegations, he denied all the charges, saying, “Ahmed is doing well and a CT scan is to be done to ascertain her neurological condition.”
The doctor also said that Selim was creating a scene because she does not want to take her sister back to Egypt due to financial reasons.
“Eman is fine and is doing good. She has recovered well and only a CT scan is to be done to ascertain her neurological condition. Actually, everything was right with Selim for initial 15 days after Ahmed's treatment started but when she recovered and we suggested that she can be taken back to Egypt, Selim started to create all this drama as she doesn't want to take her sister back to Egypt due to financial reasons,” he said.
“We have done everything possible, and now, it's time for her to continue with the treatment at home. I hope her sister realises a permanent hospital stay is not possible,” the doctor added.
The 36-year-old had arrived in Mumbai on February 11 in a chartered flight for weight reduction treatment. Since then she was under the care of Dr Lakdawala and his team at Saifee Hospital.
According to him, the Egyptian woman has so far lost 262 kilograms.
