Varanasi flyover collapse: CM Yogi Adityanath orders probe, announces Rs 5 lakh compensation to kin of deceased

Yogi Adityanath also announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to those who were injured in this accident. The UP chief minister also ordered probe to find out what caused the accident.

Expressing sympathies with the kin of those who were killed after portion of an under construction flyover collapsed in Varanasi on Tuesday, UP CM announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the relatives of the victims.

Yogi Adityanath also announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to those who were injured in this accident.

The UP chief minister also ordered probe to find out what caused the accident.

"Am saddenned by the loss of lives in this incident. My sympathies are with kin of those who lost their lives," Yogi Adityanath said.

He also added that the NDRF team and UP POlice are carrying out rescue operations at the accident site.

At least 18 people were killed and several feared trapped under debris after portion of an under construction flyover collapsed in Varanasi on Tuesday.

50 people are believed to be stuck under the debris. A number of vehicles are also said to be trapped under the debris.

The accident took place in Cantt. area of Varanasi.
