Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday began a cleanliness drive in Gomti river bank.
Addressing the gathering at the event, Adityanath opined that the effort of citizens is necessary to keep the country clean. He also administered an oath to the people present there to keep the river clean. Plant saplings were also distributed on this occasion.
"This maha abhiyan will generate awareness among the people about the environment. It will also motivate the people to keep the rivers clean," Adityanath said at the event.
Besides the chief minister, cabinet ministers, the mayor, and a number of MLAs took part in the cleanliness drive.
Expressing concern over pollution in Gomti, State Law Minister Brajesh Pathak announced that the cleanliness drive will continue till the river is completely cleaned.
