Uttar Pradesh MLA and BSP strongman Mukhtar Ansari suffered a heart attack inside Banda Jail on Tuesday. Earlier he was admitted to a local trauma centre but was later refered to PGI Lucknow.
His wife, who was visiting him, also suffered a heart attack in shock. Both husband and wife remain in critical condition.
According to reports, Ansari’s family members alleged that he was poisoned.
Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home), said, "The District Magistrate and SSP Banda has been asked to prepare a report and the best medical assistance will be provided to Mukhtar Ansari."
