Amid the nationwide outrage over Kathua and Unnao incidents, another horrendous rape and murder case has come into light, this time from Uttar Pradesh.
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped and strangled to death by a youth during a wedding in Etah on Monday, police said today.
The incident took place in Shitalpur village near Kotwali Nagar police station on Monday night when the victim along with her parents had come to attend a wedding.
The accused, who was hired to setup tent for the occasion, allegedly lured the girl away when her family members were busy attending the ceremony. He took the minor to an under-construction house and raped her and later killed her, said police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Akhilesh Kumar Chaurasia said that the accused Sonu has been arrested.
The incident comes close to the heels of the Kathua rape and murder case, where an eight-year-old was allegedly held in captivity in a small village temple in Kathua district for a week in January this year during which she was kept sedated and sexually assaulted before being bludgeoned to death.
In another case of child sexual abuse, body of a minor girl was found on a cricket ground in Gujarat’s Surat 11 days ago with 86 injury marks. Police said that the girl may have been tortured and raped before being killed.
