Eighteen people were injured, while five of those remained critical after a truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district late on Sunday, police said. The incident was reported at Sathaly between Bharmour and Hudsor in the state.
The injured, which included 12 women, were rescued as the police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident, said Chamba Superintendent of Police Monica Bhutunguru.
The victims along with the driver were rushed to Community Health Centre Bharmour, the superintendent of police said.
Those critical were referred to a superior hospital, she added.
Bhutunguru confirmed most of the victims of the mishap hailed from nearby areas.
