Days after a BJP-led alliance swept the Tripura Assembly elections, the party supporters razed iconic Lenin statue amid chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' in south Tripura's Belonia town.

"Attacks in Tripura are now being coordinated in a centralized way by BJP-IPFT leadership. Left got 45% vote. BJP-IPFT wants to use their newly acquired power to smash that support base thru physical attacks, torching of offices, intimidation & bullying," the CPI-M tweeted.

The CPI(M)-led Left Front was dethroned by the BJP-IPFT coalition after nearly 25 years in power on March 3. The BJP-IPFT combine scripted history by winning the Tripura Assembly polls with a two-third majority, ending uninterrupted rule of the CPI(M)-led Left Front in the northeastern state.
