Srinagar: A top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander was arrested by security forces from Kupwara district of north Kashmir yesterday.
A police official said that the apprehended person is believed to be the top militant commander of LeT, Abu Ukasha of Pakistan, also known as Hanzullah.
He was caught by security forces during an operation in Sheikh Nar forest area of Sogam, Lolab in Kupwara district.
Police official said that on Ukasha's disclosure, the security forces launched a search operation in the nearby forests to track down another LeT militant Abu Bakar.
The search operation was still in progress when reports last came in.
Ukasha is being questioned for information about the militant network in north Kashmir region where he was active for several years now, the official said.
