In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police today apprehended three assailants, who were allegedly part of the team involved in the sensational Nabha jailbreak, from Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area, officials said today.
According to reports, accused Charanjit Channa, Harjot and Ranjeet Singh tried to fire at the police but were unsuccessful and were later arrested.
Charanjit Channa and Harjot had apparently came out in the quest of new currency and were trapped near an ATM. Three pistols and 17 live cartridges have been recovered from their possession.
On November, 29, police had booked 29 people, including nine jail officials, under relevant sections of IPC in connection with the jailbreak case.
Assistant jail superintendent Bhim Singh, head warden Jagmeet Singh and a sweet shop owner Tejinder Sharma had been arrested on the charges of abetment and criminal conspiracy in the case.
Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh Mintoo, five others were freed by group of about 10-12 armed men on November 27.
However, Harminder Singh Mintoo, who had 12 cases registered against him across Punjab, was nabbed from Nizamuddin station on November 29.
