The Kasganj-Achhnera rail route in Uttar Pradesh was affected today as three coaches of a goods train derailed near Mathura on Wednesday morning. No casualties were reported due to the incident but movement of trains on the route were affected, ANI reported.
The incident is latest in the series of train derailments across the country, some having led to a number of casualties.
On September 27, 16 coaches of a fertiliser-laden goods train derailed near Nergundi station in Odisha's Cuttack district. Several local passenger trains passing through the line had to be cancelled.
A day earlier on September 26, three trains - Duronto Express, Hatia-Anand Vihar Express and Mahabodhi Express - were found to be running on the same railway track near Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Last month, Railway Board Chairman A K Mital resigned from the post after the Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express derailment in Uttar Pradesh on August 19, that resulted in death of over 20 people. Suresh Prabhu was later replaced by Piyush Goyal in Cabinet reshuffle earlier this month.
The change of guard at the ministry, however, has not stopped train accidents. Just days after Goyal took charge as the new Railways Minister, three trains derailments were reported within hours of each other on September 7.
