A portion of Rajiv Gandhi bridge in Bhiwandi city of Thane district collapsed on Wednesday. There was no report of anyone getting injured in the incident. A city police team reached the spot soon after the incident and barricaded the area. The bridge was closed for traffic immediately.
Notably, on Monday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had travelled on the bridge during his visit to the town to attend the 'Dahi Handi' festival, reported PTI.
The incident took place just a day after a huge portion of a flyover collapsed in Kolkata killing a person and injuring several others.
