In a major breakthrough, intelligence sleuths have arrested a suspected Pakistani spy in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer on Friday. The spy, named Nandal Maharaj, was nabbed based on intelligence inputs from the RAW.

A cellular phone and multiple SIM card have also been also recovered from him.

UR Sahoo, ADG Intelligence said that the man confessed that he played an instrumental role in smuggling around 35 kg of RDX into India.

“The accused is a Pakistani national and entered the country on visa. He was found in suspicious circumstances in Jaisalmer yesterday and was interrogated. He is now being taken to Jaipur. He will be placed under arrest later,” he said.

“We are probing his local connections in the border areas and those who helped him reach there,” he added.

A diary has also been recovered from him, which details the transactions that have taken place between him and Pakistani agencies.

Police said that Maharaj and his family are residents of Pakistan, but in the need of money he opted to become a spy for the country.

He was also found in possession of various maps and contact details, they said, adding that Maharaj had been staying in Jaisalmer since the last six months.

Reports said that this is the time that Pakistan has sent a ‘Hindu’ spy on a valid visa and passport.

Jaisalmer borders Pakistan and is 560 km from state capital Jaipur.
