Get ready to shell out more for parking as Delhi will implement the new parking policy from November, a Hindustan Times report said.

According to the report, charges at all parking lots across the city will be hiked and the minimum parking rate will be fixed by the Base Parking Fee (BPF) Committee. The parking charges will also be revised every year.

The government has also included differential parking charges which means people will have to pay more during peak hours.

As per the report, on-street parking would be priced at least thrice as much as off-street parking. "On-street parking would be priced at least thrice as much as off-street parking, and towing charges for violation of no-parking or overstay in authorised parking would be much higher than onstreet parking fees."

The report said that the civic agencies will consult with Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) before deciding the parking charges in residential areas.

With the implementation of this policy, the government is expected to earn an estimated additional Rs 600 crore from parking fees.

Meanwhile, Delhi's lieutenant governor Anil Bajpai is expected to review the parking policy today.
