New Delhi: Family members of Siddhart Sharma, the 32-year-old marketing executive who was killed by a speeding Mercedes allegedly driven by a minor at North Delhi's civil lines, have released a shocking CCTV footage of the incident.
The CCTV footage clearly captures a speeding silver Mercedes hitting the victim in red T-shirt.
The impact of the accident was so much so that Siddharth was flung several feet into the air and landed at least 15 metres away, severely injured. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, Sidharth Sharma, was the marketing head of a private enterprise, and also pursuing professional degree from an institute in New Delhi affiliated to Stratford University in US.
Due to the impact of the accident, a tyre of the car burst and it stopped after a sharp drift on the road.
The person, who was at the wheel of the Mercedes, has been identified, turned out to be the minor son of the car owner, and has been apprehended, a senior police official said.
The police earlier said, that the car was being driven at a speed of at least 80 km per hour and that the accused fled from the scene, leaving the car behind.
The juvenile driving the car has since been let off on bail. The boy’s father however, will be prosecuted under the MV Act. The father’s driver will also be booked for initially giving false information to the police that he was driving the car.
According to some eyewitnesses, at the time of the fatal accident, there were nearly 7-8 minors inside the car who flee away after the accident.
The owner of the car is said to be a builder by profession.
The accident took place on Monday evening and the CCTV footage has come out now.
