Aurangabad: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old man from Jalna in Maharashtra stabbed his wife to death in front of the couple’s two-year-old daughter before walking into a police station and confessing his crime.
The accused, identified as Ashok Lakhanlal Sura, first murdered his 25-year-old wife and then went to the nearby police station where he admitted having committed the crime.
In his confession, Ashok said that he was fed up of his wife Pooja, who used to fight with him over small issues. In his statement, he said that they were married six years ago and had two daughters, aged two and six.
After Ashok’s confession, the stunned policemen rushed to his house, just 300 metres from the police station, and found the body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood.
Police said that Ashok, who used to help around in his family business of wholesale grocery, was a liquor addict and was undergoing treatment for de-addiction.
“The couple lived in a joint family and the accused had smothered the woman and even stuffed her mouth with a cloth so that her voice wouldn't reach out. The woman apparently tried defending herself strongly during the attack, since the the stabbings, including the one in her throat, are quite deep. The accused had even increased the volume of the television in the house so that nobody could hear her cries for help,” said police sub-inspector Jaisingh Madansingh Pardeshi told the Times of India.
Pardeshi also told that after killing his wife, Ashok left for the police station leaving his two-year-old daughter behind, who went to her grandmother and informed that her mother was hurt and is bleeding.
