After advising External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to make a New Year's resolution to "keep calm and stop tweeting”, noted author Shobhaa De had to face the wrath of Twitterati on Friday.
Sushma Swaraj is known for frequently using Twitter to express her views on different issues including matters related to her ministry besides helping out people in distress abroad.
Shobhaa De’s advice to Indian Foreign Minister came a few days after Sushma threatened e-commerce giant Amazon with a visa embargo if it didn't pull off doormats depicting Indian flags from its Canada website.
“Sushma Swaraj : Resolution for 2017 - Keep calm and stop tweeting,” Shobhaa De twitted.
Shobhaa De’s advice to Sushma was taken with a pinch of salt by the Twitteratis.
“I really don’t understand why you have problem with Sushma Swaraj? Let her express, share, support, talk, help anyone and anybody,” said Mayurii Shetty.
“Does her hard work and dedication towards her duty hurt you? In fact she is helping Indians like no one ever did & you seem jealous,” said Vaibhav Deshmukh.
A few people mocked Shobhaa De for offering this advice.
“Why don’t you take that resolution,” asked Girish Palaparty.
“Actually this resolution should be yours,” said Shalini Gupta.
