Chandigarh: Ashok Khemka, senior IAS officer of Haryana cadre, wants to become a lawyer post-retirement.
Interestingly, Khemka has topped the law entrance test of Panjab University (PU) for 2016-17 session.
Khemka was one of the 3,987 candidates who had appeared for this test that was held on June 19.
"I always had an interest in law. I will do the evening course. I intend to take up this profession after my retirement. So, I have decided to pursue this course," Khemka told Times Of India.
The 50-year old IAS officer has been transferred 46 times in 22 years of his service. He grabbed media headlines after he cancelled a controversial land deal involving Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and real estate giant DLF in 2012.
On Tuesday, Manohar Lal Khattar government of Haryana issued a chargesheet against him in a case relating to 2012-13 when Khemka was posted as MD of HSCD.
In April this year, Khemka was transferred to the post of secretary and director general of the state archaeology and museums department just four months after he was appointed as state transport commissioner.
