BJP on Thursday retained Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, the lone seat the party won in Telangana in the 2014 elections.
Senior BJP leader G Kishan Reddy, also a former state party president, defeated Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and minister T Srinivas Yadav's son T Sai Kiran by a margin of over 62,000 votes, the Election Commission said.
Former Union minister and the lone BJP minister from Telangana, Bandaru Dattatreya is the incumbent MP for Secunderabad.
This time, the BJP has fielded former MLA G Kishan Reddy from the seat.
Anjan Kumar, who had been the representative of Secunderabad twice (2004 and 2009), was defeated by Dattatreya in 2014.
Secunderabad went to polls on April 11 in the first phase of Lok Sabha election and recorded a polling percentage of 44.99 -- worst in decades.
