Romanian Armed Forces Day celebrated in New Delhi

Col. Eng. (PhD) Ion MINCA, Romania's Defence Attaché at its Embassy in India, hosted a grand reception on Tuesday to celebrate Romania’s Armed Forces Day which is held on October 25 every year.

Colonel Eng. (PhD) Ion MINCA, Romania's Defence Attaché at its Embassy in India, hosted a grand reception on Tuesday to celebrate Romania’s Armed Forces Day which is held on October 25 every year. 
 
The Defense, Military, Naval and Air Attaché of Romania, Col. Eng. (PhD) Ion MINCA, hosted a reception, where members of diplomatic corps, civil society members, journalists, defense attaches of different countries and officials from Indian Armed Forces were also present.

Col. Eng. (PhD) Ion MINCA, Romania's Defence Attaché at its Embassy in India, said that Romania and India have a great potential of improving military bilateral cooperation and both are working for peace and prosperity both in the region and at the international level.

Further adding, he said Romania, as a part of NATO, has sent 40,000 troops beyond its national border to take part in operations in Africa, Balkans and Europe.

"Romania allocates 2% of the GDP for defence purposes to ensure security and safety of the country", said Col. Eng. (PhD) Ion MINCA 

Replying to a question by India TV on relations with India, Romanian Ambassador Radu octavian Dobre said relations with India has always been good and it has improved in the last few years.

"Trade with India has almost doubled in the next two or three years and we hope to reach benchmark trade target of $1bn this year or next year", said Ambassador Dobre.

"Romania remains fully committed to national commitments, obligations and loyalty to the Euro-Atlantic values and continues its strong contribution to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina where Romanian soldiers are engaged shoulder to shoulder with the other nation’s troops in the fight for peace and stability worldwide," Col. Eng. (PhD) Ion MINCA said.

As a NATO member, through missions professionally performed by its Armed Forces, Romania is recognized as a credible partner in the Allied and International community, and the appreciation received by the Romanian service members is a proof the Romanian Armed Forces know how to capitalize on one of the most important resources in the field of security, namely the human resource.
