The Rajya Sabha was on Thursday adjourned for the day amid ruckus, minutes after the House assembled for the day's proceedings.
After the papers were tabled, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu announced he had received notices by some members who wanted to raise certain issues under the rules for suspension of business.
He said he had rejected the notices under Rule 267 of the House proceedings, but the members could raise the issues under other rules.
The Opposition members, who had given those notices, objected loudly and were on their feet. Some of the MPs also trooped to the Chairman's podium and started shouting slogans.
"It seems nobody is interested in running the House. I have no other option but to adjourn the House for the day," Naidu said.
Earlier, the House condoled the deaths of its former members N. Rajangam and Jai Narain Nishad.
