The search operation at a CRPF camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, which was attacked by guerrillas yesterday, has concluded with the recovery of third militant's body. The body was recovered from debris of the Lathpora CRPF camp.
Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief SP Vaid confirmed the news. "Finally the operation has concluded with the recovery of body of the third terrorist," he tweeted.
The body, which was recovered from debris of the CRPF camp, is yet to be identified.
Earlier this morning, the search operation was resumed at the CRPF training centre here to trace the third militant. Yesterday, heavily-armed militants stealthily entered the camp in Lathpora area about two hours after midnight, hurling grenades and resorting to indiscriminate gunfire. Four CRPF troopers and two militants were killed in the incident.
After barging in, the two militants secured positions in the CRPF camp located on the Srinagar-Jammu highway until they were killed.
The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) claimed responsibility for the daring attack on the 185 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.
Security forces including Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and state police jointly carried out an operation to flush out the militants. As a precaution, authorities suspended internet in Pulwama. Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway was also halted during the counter-insurgency operations.
In another incident on Sunday itself, a soldier lost his life in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Nowshera sector.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the sacrifice of “our brave jawans will not go in vain and their valour will be given due acknowledgment”.

“The attack on a CRPF camp in Kashmir was a cowardly attack by terrorists. The sacrifice of our jawans won't go in vain,” he said.
"The entire nation stands with their families. We are proud of our brave jawans who lost their lives in the fighting back the terrorists,” he added.
