Proud of you for taking on ‘the worst form of chauvinism’, says IAF father of allegedly ‘stalked’ woman
Chandigarh: The IAS father of the young woman, allegedly stalked by Haryana BJP state president Subhash Barala’s son Vikas in Chandigarh, said a Facebook post on Monday that he is proud of his daughter for taking onn “the worst form of chauvinism” in society.
The Haryana IAS officer Virender Kundu also wrote that the “difficulties” he might face on account of pursuing this case with the police “are nothing compared to” what his daughter Varnika may confront.
“You have chosen to take on the worst form of chauvinism manifested in our society. My difficulties on account of this decision are nothing compared to yours,” Kundu wrote in his Facebook post.

In another Facebook post, Kundru has thanked the media and social media for their support and spreading the word about the incident. He said that “humanity has joined them in their struggle” and that there are candle marches, protests and processions being arranged at various places against the incident.

Haryana state BJP chief Subhash Barala’s son Vikas Barala was on Saturday arrested along with his friend for allegedly stalking a girl – Varnika – in Chandigarh. Both the accused, Vikas Barala and Ashish Kumar, were released later on bail as they were booked under bailable sections of the IPC and the Motor Vehicles Act.
The police charged Vikas and his friend with "stalking and wrongful restraint". Officials said their medical report confirmed the duo were inebriated at the time of the arrest.
The incident triggered a political outcry as the opposition Congress alleged on Sunday that the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in Haryana is “shielding” Vikas from punishment.
CM Khattar said also on Sunday that the incident was an "individual issue" and the father should not be punished for the son's crime as the Opposition Congress asked the ruling party to sack its top leader.
In another Facebook post earlier, Kundu described the Friday incident in detail.
“As a father of two daughters, I feel compelled to take this matter to its logical conclusion. The goons must be punished, and the law must take its course. As would be expected, the goons are from influential families,” he wrote.
“We will not let criminals or their stooges affect your value system, or the quality of the life you have chosen for your selves,” the post read further.
