In the latest update from the gangster Rajesh Bharti encounter case, reports suggest the car in which the criminals were travelling bore the stickers of Haryana MLA.
Bharti, one of Delhi's most wanted gangster and three of his aides were shot dead in an encounter with the police in the Chattarpur area of South Delhi on Saturday. One accomplice of Bharti was critically injured in the shootout. He has been admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
The accomplices of Rajesh Bharti who were killed have been identified as Vidroh, Umesh Don, and Bhiku.
All the aides or rather suspected criminals were also carrying rewards on their heads in addition to Bharti who carried a bounty of Rs 1 lakh bounty on him.
The Delhi Police Special Cell intercepted the criminals who were on the run after intercepting Haryana Police's custody following a tip-off on Saturday early morning.
Besides vehicles, two-star pistols, revolvers & other weapons were also seized from the spot
Meanwhile, a probe is underway regarding the political connection of Bharti.
The Delhi Police has already registered an FIR against unidentified persons.
The case is being investigated by the south district police and officials are recording statements of witnesses
So far, the police have recovered two cars from the encounter site in which the gang members had come. The ownership of an Hyundai i-20 car is yet to be ascertained.
They are questioning Hyundai dealers in the National Capital Region to identify the car's owner.
According to investigators, they had found 40 fake number plates from the car.
Bharti, 39, was said to have been involved in numerous crimes, including murder, extortion, auto lifting, and dacoity. He was accused in several cases across various states including Delhi and had escaped from the custody of Haryana Police some time ago.
