Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets ailing former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at AIIMS
PM Modi was on a visit to AIIMS to lay the foundation stone of the National Centre for Aging. He also inaugurated a super speciality and an emergency block at Safdarjung Hospital
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday enquired about the well-being of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and paid him a visit at AIIMS in Delhi after the foundation laying ceremony of National Centre for Aging.
Vajpayee is undergoing treatment for urinary tract infection at the medical centre. He was admitted for a routine examination on June 11 but was later detected with the infection.
The former prime minister, during his stay in the hospital, has been visited by several political dignitaries including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, BJP President Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath among others.
The hospital, in its medical bulletin confirmed that Vajpayee’s condition is stable and that he is responding to the treatment. Further, he is advised to stay in the hospital till the infection is controlled.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a super speciality and an emergency block at Safdarjung Hospital. He also laid the foundation stone of the National Centre for Aging at AIIMS.
At the event held at the medical centre, PM Modi inaugurated a 555-bed Super Speciality Block in Safdarjung Hospital and dedicated a 500-bed New Emergency Block there.
The prime minister also dedicated a 300-bed Power Grid Vishram Sadan in AIIMS and a 'connection motorable tunnel' between AIIMS, Ansari Nagar and the Trauma Centre.
