President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Donald Trump after his swearing in as the 45th president of the United States
“We look forward to an early opportunity of welcoming you and Mrs. Melania Trump to India @realDonaldTrump #PresidentMukherjee,” Mukherjee tweeted.
In his message,PM Modi said, “Congratulations @realDonaldTrump on assuming office as US President. Best wishes in leading USA to greater achievements in the coming years.”
“Strength of the India-USA strategic partnership lies in our shared values and common interests,” PM added.
PM Modi’s tweet also emphasised deepening ties between India and US.
“Looking forward to working with President @realDonaldTrump to further deepen India-US ties & realise the full potential of our cooperation,” PM further tweeted.
Trump, 70, was elected the new US President, defeating Democratic Hillary Clinton in a bitterly fought Presidential battle.
It is most likely that under Trump’s presidency, both the sides will be looking forward to deepening their diplomatic and military cooperation.
