Security agencies have warned Gujarat Police that there is a possibility of terror operatives from Pakistan entering Indian waters to carry out recce in the guise of fishermen.
According to a report in Times of India, the agencies have alerted the police that if these operatives are successful in returning without being noticed or caught, then they can provide vital clues to ISI of Pakistan about sea routes through which terrorists could infiltrate.
The report quotes its police sources as saying that the 18 Pakistani fishermen who were apprehended near Porbandar and Kutch coast are also being interrogated extensively by different security agencies.
"While the fishermen apprehended about 100 nautical miles off Porbandar coast seem to be genuine, the ones caught in a boat off Chouhan Nala seem suspicious," an investigator told TOI.
The security agencies have also warned the Gujarat police and other security agencies about possible infiltration bids from Indo-Pak land borders in Kutch and Banaskantha districts.
"We have put our men on high alert in Kutch and Banaskantha and have also activated human intelligence network for information on suspicious movements," a top Gujarat Police official was quoted as saying by TOI.
