Continuing their act of violating ceasefire, Pakistani troops today fired mortars along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Arnia sector, leaving a BSF jawan injured.
BSF troops posted along the border retaliated.
This is second ceasefire violation along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir in as many days.
"Pakistani Rangers fired few bullets warning troops working ahead of the fence in Arnia area in Jammu. Our troops retaliated with few rounds of fire this morning", a senior BSF officer said.
"They also fired mortar shells. Some exchange of mortar shells also took place", he said.
This comes a day after Pakistan summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad over fresh ceasefire violations on the Line of Control, saying that it said has left one Pakistani civilian dead and two others injured.
The ceasefire violation follows the mutilation of bodies of two Indian soldiers by Pakistan Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Krishna Ghati sector last month.
Naik Subedar Paramjit Singh of 22 Sikh Regiment and Head Constable Prem Sagar of BSF's 200 Battalion were brutally killed by the BAT of Pakistani Army in an unprovoked firing as they were patrolling the LoC. The incident took place in the Krishna Ghati of the region.
In 2016, 228 instances of ceasefire violations along the LoC were reported while there were 221 instances of ceasefire violations along International Border (IB).
