New Delhi: India has lodged protest with Pakistani authorities for carrying out construction of hi-tech bunkers at several places along the international border with Rajasthan.
According to intelligence inputs, it is matter of concern for India because of the presence of Chinese forces in the region. Pakistan and China had recently held a military exercise in the region.
The intelligence report said that Pakistan is getting the work done under the desert warfare techniques and has built nearly 180 bunkers. The intelligence has also claimed to gather evidence about the presence Pakistani bunkers at the Zero Point, separating Gujarat and Rajasthan to Sindh province of Pakistan.
The intelligence said that all such bunkers along the border areas are only 1-1.5 km away from the Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Barmer and Sriganganagar districts of the state and they have been built in a period of one month only.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has lodged a strong protest with their Pakistani counterparts and also informed the Government of India about this development.
The Pakistani side has also been setting up permanent defence ammunition storages. Besides, Islamabad is strengthening those areas from where the 1971 war took place. The construction work is being carried out in the areas adjoining Kishangarh Bulj and Shahgarh Bulj in Jaisalmer and Ganganagar and Bikaner districts.
Last year, Pakistan had removed spy cameras installed at several places along the international border with Rajasthan about following objections by the BSF.
The Pakistani side had installed around ten cameras at the height of 15-20 feet facing Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Ganganagar. At that time BSF had raised objection after which Pakistan had stopped the practice.
