Pakistan can do more to combat terrorism, reiterates Pentagon
The United States has been repeatedly accusing Pakistan of not taking action against terror groups like the Haqqani network and the Taliban.
The Pentagon on Thursday reiterated that Pakistan can do more to combat terrorism.
"With respect to Pakistan, we believe that Pakistan can do more to combat terrorism. This is an inflection point and this is an opportunity and Pakistan has an opportunity to do more," Chief Pentagon Spokesperson Dana White told media persons.
The United States has been repeatedly accusing Pakistan of not taking action against terror groups like the Haqqani network and the Taliban. However, Islamabad has always denied these allegations.
Frustrated over Pakistan’s refusal to act against these terror groups, the US froze some USD 2 billion in security assistance to Pakistan last month.
Dana White, however, noted that Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism.
"So, well look forward to continuing to work with them to see where there are opportunities," she said.
