Amid growing demands by Pakistan for proof to corroborate India’s claims of having conducted surgical strikes in PoK, a Pakistani police official disclosed that the strike did take place in which at least five Pakistani soldiers and an unspecified numbers of militants were killed.
In a sting done by a private TV channel, Ghulam Akbar, Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of the Mirpur Range in PoK is heard making the disclosure about the strike that took place in many sectors of the PoK in the early hours of September 29 and killed 12 terrorists by the Indian commandos.
As per the news channel, their investigative editor impersonated as the Inspector General of Police of the area while speaking to Akbar.
During the telephonic interview, Akbar said the Pakistani military was unaware of attack and also lost its five soldiers in the strikes carried out by Indian special commandos.
Akbar clearly stated that the dead bodies of unknown terrorists were quickly removed by the Pakistani military.
While painting a true picture, the SP informed that after the strike, the Pakistani Army had cordoned off the areas - Samana in Bhimber, Hazira in Poonch, Dudhniyal in Neelam and Kayani in Hathian Bala, immediately.
The details given by the official matches with the statement read out by Indian Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt General Ranbir Singh on September 30.
The dead bodies were taken away to the hospitals by the Pakistani army in ambulances while many have been buried in villages, added Akbar.
Indian army has not yet officially announced how many people it killed during the strike, but said they managed to neutralize a "significant" number of terrorists.”
Akbar also confirmed the time duration of surgical strike and said, “Sir, that was night...you can say roughly 3-4 hours... between 2 am and 4 or 5am... the attack continued between that time.”
“There were attacks on separate places... several places were attacked... they also met resistance,” he added.
In addition to the shame for Pakistan, the SP confirmed that the Pakistani army facilitates jihadi movement in forward areas and arranges for their crossing over to India.
“The Army brings them, sir... it is in their hands,” the SP added.
According to The Indian Express, it contacted five eyewitnesses through their kin living on the Indian side of the Line of Control, who were questioned using an encrypted chat system as Indian journalists have no access to the Pakistani side of the LoC.
According to the eyewitnesses, bodies of those killed in the operation were loaded on trucks for secret burials in the wee hours of September 29.
They further described that the fire engagements were ‘short’ but ‘powerful’, which destroyed makeshift buildings that housed jihadists before they left for the last stage of their journey across the LoC.
These details by the eyewitnesses from across the LoC substantiate India’s claim of carrying out surgical strikes on terror camps in PoK, which has been denied by Pakistan so far saying that it was just cross-border firing with small arms and mortar.
On the other hand, they have also provided the details on some of the locations which were targeted by Indian Army during the operation, information which has not been made public by both the governments so far.
They revealed about locations in PoK like Dudhnial, Al-Haawi bridge, Chalhana and Leepa, that are the operating points of terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and some of them also have Pakistani military base camps.
