On a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the border state Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani troops resorted to ceasefire violation along the International Border (IB) in Samba district.

Jammu: On a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the border state Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani troops resorted to ceasefire violation along the International Border (IB) in Samba district.

A senior police official said that Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire by firing at the Regal border outpost of the BSF on the international border.

"They used automatics (automatic guns) to target the BSF post, but no damage occurred due to Pakistan firing. There was no retaliation from BSF side," the official said.

BSF troops immediately retaliated, the official said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone.

The Prime Minister is on a day-long visit to the state. A special plane carrying the Prime Minister landed at the technical area of Jammu airport around 9 am. Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and other senior officials of central and state governments received him at the airport.

From the technical area of Jammu airport, Modi flew in army's MI-17 helicopter to Katra town where he inaugurated Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Katra. The hospital has been set up by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

Modi also addressed the convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. He will later inaugurate a sports complex and address a public meeting in Katra.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of Prime Minister's visit. A senior police official said in Jammu that all routes have been sanitised and adequate security has been put in place at the venues and on the route of the Prime Minister.
