Noida: The family of a young woman protested at the government hospital in Sector 30 on Monday alleging that she gave birth to twins, but was handed only one child by the hospital.

According to a report, Sangeeta Devi, a resident of Chhajarsi, Noida, was admitted to government hospital in Sector 30 on Monday. Her family was told by doctors, based on an ultra sonography report on Sunday, that she would deliver twins. However, after the delivery on Monday, the doctors handed over only one girl child to them, reported TOI.

As per reports, both the ultrasound reports, one from the BR Ambedkar Multi-Speciality Hospital (Government Hospital), Sector 30, and another from the SJM Super Speciality Hospital (Private Hospital), Sector 63, clearly showed that the woman was carrying twins.

According to the relatives of the woman, doctors initially said that Sangeeta has delivered twins but within five minutes,  electricity went off thrice in the hospital and they were asked to arrange blood for the operation.

The family was then told about the birth of a single girl child. This enraged the family members who then alleged that the hospital staff took away the other child during the surgery.

"When I asked about the second child, I was told that there is only one baby," Devendra, the brother of the woman said.

The family members refused to leave the hospital with the single child unless the hospital handed them the second child. They also lodged a police complaint at the Sector 20 police station in the matter.
