New Delhi: The National Lok Adalat, held in the Supreme Court, high courts and other courts in the country today, settled over 50,000 pending cases.
The Lok Adalat, held by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), cleared cases of Motor Accidents Claim Tribunal (MACT) and insurance claims, besides the matters of several other nature, both pre-litigation and pending cases.
According to a NALSA statement, more than 5500 pre-litigation cases and more than 50,000 pending cases were settled in 14 states till 4:30 pm.
The Lok Adalat bench of justices A K Goel and S A Bobde in the apex court settled seven cases.
Besides, the parties were able to arrive at final settlements worth more than Rs 131 crore across the country.
