Monsoon arrived in Delhi today, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light showers in parts of the national capital through the day. The MeT officials said that the monsoon has reached a few parts of North India, including east Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Rain and thundershowers were observed at most places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
The normal onset date for the monsoon over Delhi is June 29.
Several parts of north India have been witnessing pre-monsoon showers. The northern limit of monsoon passes through Veraval, Amreli, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Aligarh (west Uttar Pradesh), Tehri (Uttarakhand), and Amritsar (Punjab). It is expected to hit Delhi in the next 24-48 hours, IMD's Additional Director General Mritunjay Mohaptara said.

04:00 am: BSES issues helpline numbers to deal with break downs in monsoon
Power discom BSES has issued emergency helpline numbers for its consumers for complaints about rain-related breakdowns in the approaching monsoon. Under the Monsoon action plan an integrated approach has been adopted under which steps have been taken to minimise moisture related break downs, said a BSES spokesperson.
"In case of an emergency, consumers can reach BSES through helpline numbers 1800 10 39707 (BRPL) and 41999808 (BYPL)," he said.
